About Us

Public tenley is the newest addition to the Public group family.

It is the sister of the renowned Public bar located in lower Dupont Circle. Complete with the iconic decor of Public bar and the multi-faceted restaurant/lounge amenities and sports viewing options, it continues to offer our guests a different and entertaining menu of traditional American savories served with our aesthetic flair. In this space we continue to elevate our superior service and quality, while mixing it with the casual vibe and high energy of a neighborhood hot spot for Tenleytown, American University, Friendship Heights, Forest Hills, Van Ness, Petworth, Bethesda and Chevy Chase, South Kensington, as well as Cleveland Park & North Cleveland Park, McLean Gardens, Cathedral Heights, Columbia Heights, North Woodley Park, North Embassy Row and Mt. Pleasant.

The vision of Public tenley is no different than that of Public bar which grew out of the passion to bring a broader, more appealing nightlife experience to more people as opposed to less. While many people have finally come to see and enjoy our vision as the originators of of the "unthinkable ? combine our respective love of sports, an upscale casual lounge experience and good, simple food," others have attempted to copy the concept much to our delight. But with Public tenley the result remains iconic, uniquely identifiable and stunning, while maintaining the character of yet another venerable DC institution - the former and original Dancing Crab space. The merger of the building?s old rustic character with appropriate modern twist again occurs with the help of Grupo-7 designs (http://www.grupo-7.com) and ge-su design (www.ge-su.com) while managing to playfully weave a sports undercurrent throughout the entire two-level space.

Public tenley mirrors Public bar in that it has multiple floors, two specifically, with indoor and outdoor access by way of upper and lower patios. However, the space affords a much more intimate environment to fit with the neighborhood. It is therefore, cozy, comfortable and inviting for all. Additionally, it will be much more interactive, featuring games and a number of different ways for guests to be entertained outside of sports viewing. What will not be different is the numerous TVs mounted in the customary random form providing innumerable viewing options from any seat, and any angle.

As such, we will continue to be available for private events on both floors without being encroachment.

As with Public bar, we hope that you enjoy Public tenley and visit frequently!

Thank you,
The Management.
